Background
The international research laboratory for nuclear physics and nuclear astrophysics (IRL NPA) brings together scientists from France and the US, addressing topics in nuclear science (see https://npa.in2p3.fr for more details). Among the activities related to the IRL NPA there is active support for collaborations, visits and experiments between CNRS researchers and FRIB. The IRL NPA is launching here the 2024 call for such support.
Framework and Funding
The collaboration, visit or experiment must involve CNRS researchers and the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB), for a duration of one to two weeks. The location of the mission is at the IRL NPA, FRIB, in East Lansing, Michigan. The support is intended to cover travel and/or local accommodation expenses. It could cover it fully or partially. Note that for the experiments, the IRL provides only a support to the local expenses (hotel+meal) and that the support cannot be requested to participate in the workshops supported by the IRL.
Application Procedure and Dates
Applicants for IRL NPA support must submit a short (1-2 pages) proposal indicating the following information: title, expected dates, short scientific justification, names and contact of CNRS and FRIB researchers related to the project, and a preliminary breakdown of the budget. Applications should be sent by e-mail to marguero@frib.msu.edu before June 16th (Sunday), 2024.
Application evaluation
Proposals will be evaluated by the IRL NPA scientific council and will be considered in terms of: 1) The relevance of the project; 2) The relationship with the topics of the IRL NPA; 3) The estimated total cost.
Applicants will be informed very quickly after the deadline about the outcome of the selection procedure.
