2026 call for scientific collaborations, visits, experiments, and workshops [deadline January, 11th, 2026]

Background

The International Research Laboratory for Nuclear Physics and nuclear Astrophysics (IRL-NPA) hosted by FRIB Michigan brings together scientists from France and the USA, addressing topics in nuclear science (see https://npa.in2p3.fr for more details). Among the IRL-NPA activities, there are the support for 1) collaborations, visits, and experiments between CNRS researchers and FRIB, as well as 2) the organization of workshops, conferences, schools or any other event of this kind.

Framework and Funding

1) Collaboration, visit or experiment: the scientific project shall involve CNRS and FRIB researchers and the support is intended to cover 1-2 weeks at IRL-NPA (local accommodation + lunch tickets).

2) Workshop, conference, school or other: the proposal shall take place at IRL-NPA in 2026. A fair partition between scientists from CNRS and FRIB is expected for organizers and participants. Workshop proposals shall be focussed on a well-defined question. The support requested can be employed to fully or partially cover travel and/or local accommodation expenses of CNRS participants.

Application Procedure and Dates

Short applications are expected.

1) Collaboration, visit or experiment: the project (1-2 pages) shall contain the following information: title and 1-2 lines summary/purpose, expected visiting dates, short scientific justification, names and contact of CNRS and FRIB researchers related to the collaboration, and a preliminary breakdown of the budget.

2) Workshop, conference, school or other: the proposal (2-3 pages) shall contain the following information:  title, expected dates, short scientific justification (articulated around the well-defined question), names and coordinates of organizers, potential participants (not necessarily contacted) and a preliminary budget.

Applications should be sent by e-mail to marguero@frib.msu.edu before January 11th, 2026.

Application evaluation

Proposals for collaborations, visits and experiments as well as workshops will be evaluated by the IRL-NPA scientific board and will be considered in terms of: 1) The relevance of the proposed topic; 2) The relationship with the topics supported by IRL-NPA; 3) The estimated cost. More information about the IRL-NPA can be found on the website: http://npa.in2p3.fr.

Applicants will be informed quickly about the outcome of the selection procedure.
